03019500 TIONESTA CREEK RESERVOIR AT TIONESTA CREEK DAM, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°28'25", long 79°26'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Forest County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010003, in Allegheny National Forest, at control tower, 0.8 mi upstream from Tionesta Creek, 1.8 mi upstream from mouth, and 2.0 mi southeast of Tionesta.
DRAINAGE AREA - 478 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - December 1940 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage referenced to North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88), US Army Corps of Engineers benchmark. Prior to October 2009, datum of gage was referenced to National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29). Satellite telemetry at station. Conversion from NGVD29 to NAVD88 at this location is: NGVD29 elevation - 0.43ft = NAVD88 elevation.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS -

Lake is formed by rock-faced earthfill dam with uncontrolled saddle spillway with concrete floor and sides. Dam became fully operational in December 1940 and lake first reached minimum pool elevation, 1,084.57 ft (capacity 7,780 acre-ft) on Jan. 23, 1941. Capacity, 128,700 acre-ft between elevations 1051.57 ft, sill of outlet gates and 1,169.57 ft (full pool). Figures given herein represent total contents. Lake is used for flood control and recreation. Records from 1940 through 2006 furnished by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum contents, 111,320 acre-ft, Mar. 11, 1964, elevation, 1,161.12 ft; minimum (after first filling), 3,280 acre-ft, May 12, 1971, elevation, 1,073.59 ft, (from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers records).
