03034500 LITTLE MAHONING CREEK AT McCORMICK, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°50'10", long 79°06'37" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Indiana County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010006, on left bank 200 ft upstream from bridge on SR 4018 at McCormick, 1 mi west of Georgeville, 1.7 mi upstream from Ross Run, and 4 mi southeast of Smicksburg.
DRAINAGE AREA - 87.4 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY -

Revisions: Discharge for the period of 12/24/18 - 3/27/19 was revised on 6/21/19 due to changes to the stage discharge rating based upon additional field measurements

Prior to November 2, 2023, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 1164.88 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929


SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1939 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,163.9 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to May 10, 1940, non-recording gage at site 200 ft upstream at same datum.  Prior to November 2, 2023, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 1164.88 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - For water year 2014, maximum peak stage of 9.27 from ice jam on Feb. 22nd. Maximum peak flow of 2,130 cfs (Mar. 13) associated stage of 7.79 ft. Records are good except those for estimated discharge, which are poor.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: April 4, 2013 to current year.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Geological Survey through the Cooperative Water Program.
INSTRUMENTATION - A temperature thermistor sensor is interfaced with a data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval.
REMARKS -

Historically, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. 

Cross-sectional water quality data is available upon request.

Interruptions in the records were due to equipment malfunctions. For water years 2014-2017, water temperature records rated good. For water year 2018, water temperature records are rated good, except for August 8 to September 30, which are fair, and October 23 to August 7, which are poor. 

Beginning in water year 2019, water temperature record is not rated as "excellent", "good", "fair", or "poor".

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - MAXIMUM INSTANTANEOUS Water Temperature, 32.8° C, July 12, 2014; MINIMUM INSTANTANEOUS Water Temperature, -0.8° C,multiple occurrences in February, 2017.
