LOCATION - Lat 40°43'00", long 79°34'52" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Armstrong County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010006, on right bank 300 ft upstream of low head dam at Lock 6, 7.5 miles downstream stream of Allegheny Lock No. 7, and 1.25 miles east of Ford City Rd.
DRAINAGE AREA - 9,334 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 2016 to current year.
GAGE - Water stage recorder and staff gage.

WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: July 2010 to November, 2017 (seasonal operation, June to November). DISSOLVED OXYGEN: July 2010 to November, 2017 (seasonal operation, June to November).
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U. S. Geological Survey in cooperation the the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District and First Energy Corporation.
INSTRUMENTATION - Continuous water-quality monitor interfaced with a data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval. Satellite telemetry at station.
REMARKS -

Water quality data collection ended in the 2017 water year.

Data were collected October through November and June through September. Other interruptions in the record were due to equipment malfunctions. Readings recorded by the instrumentation may not be representative of the entire river width.

Historically, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius.
