03039036 Allegheny River below Lock & Dam 6 at Clinton, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°42'54", long 79°34'52" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Armstrong County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010006, on right bank river wall, 280 ft downstream of low head dam at Lock 6, 7.6 miles downstream stream of Allegheny Lock No. 7, and 1.25 miles east of Ford City Rd.
DRAINAGE AREA - 9,323 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Revisions: Prior to December 5, 2023, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 760.0 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1929 in the NWIS sitefile.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 2016 to current water year.
GAGE - Water stage recorder with reference staff gage.  Datum of gage is 747.4 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to December 5, 2023, the datum of gage was reported as 748.0 ft  or erroneously reported as 760.0 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Telemetry at site.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS -

Record considered good.

WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: July 2010 to November, 2017 (seasonal operation, June to November). DISSOLVED OXYGEN: July 2010 to November, 2017 (seasonal operation, June to November).
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U. S. Geological Survey in cooperation the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District and First Energy Corporation.
INSTRUMENTATION - Continuous water-quality monitor interfaced with a data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval.
REMARKS -

Water quality data collection ended in the 2017 water year.

 Data collection suspended during winter months. Other interruptions in the record were due to excessive fouling and malfunctions in the equipment.

Historically, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius.

For water year 2014, water temperature and dissolved oxygen records rated good. For water year 2015, records for water temperature are rated good. Records for dissolved oxygen are rated good, except for September 10-18, which are rated poor. For water year 2016, records for water temperature are rated good. Records for dissolved oxygen are rated fair, except for August 3-10 and August 26 to September 6, which are rated poor. For water year 2017, records for water temperature and dissolved oxygen are rated good.
