LOCATION - Lat 40°41'05", long 79°40'03" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Armstrong County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010006, on right bank lock wall 660 ft upstream from low head dam at Lock 5, 2,320 ft upstream of mouth with the Kiskiminetas River, and 5.0 miles downsteam of Allegheny Lock and Dam No. 6 and 0.4 miles east of State Route 128.
DRAINAGE AREA - 9,354 mi².

GAGE - Water stage recorder with reference staff gage. Datum of gage is reported as 747.5 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to December 4, 2023, the datum of gage was reported as 748.0 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Telemetry at site.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.

INSTRUMENTATION - Continuous water-quality monitor interfaced with a data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval. Satellite telemetry at station. From June 2010 to November, 2017, monitor was located on the left bank. Monitor was relocated to the right bank (upstream lock wall) in June, 2018.
