03043500 CONEMAUGH RIVER LAKE NEAR SALTSBURG, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°28'06", long 79°22'02" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Indiana County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010007, at face of dam on right bank at Conemaugh River Dam on Conemaugh River, 2 mi upstream from highway bridge at Tunnelton, and 7.5 mi upstream from Loyalhanna Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,351 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - December 1952 to September 2015 (elevation and contents), October 2015 to current year (elevation).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is referenced to North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88), US Army Corps of Engineers benchmark. Prior to October 2009, datum of gage was referenced to National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29). Conversion from NGVD29 to NAVD88 at this location is: NGVD29 elevation - 0.78 ft = NAVD88 elevation. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS -

Lake is formed by a concrete gravity dam. Storage began in December 1952 and was fully controlled by November 1953. Usable capacity is 269,500 acre-ft at an elevation of 975.22 ft. Target summer pool of 902.22 ft. (capacity, 7,860 acre-ft). Figures given herein represent usable contents. Lake is used for flood control, water quality, recreation, and fish and wildlife conservation. Records furnished by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between December 1952 and September 2007. Capacity of reservoir updated from surveys since original publication.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum elevation, 968.67 ft on June 25, 1972, contents 226,700 acre-ft; minimum elevation, 863.35 ft on Nov 18, 1954, contents < 3 acre-ft (from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers records).
