LOCATION - Lat 39°43'20.39", long 79°51'32.13" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Fayette County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05020004, on right bank, 1000 ft. downstream from Lake Lynn Dam (Cheat Lake) and 3.5 miles upstream from the mouth.

DRAINAGE AREA - 1,420 mi².

WATER-QUALITY RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - July 2013 to October 2017.

PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD -

WATER TEMPERATURE: July 2013 to October 2017 (seasonal operation, March to October).

SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: July 2013 to October 2017 (seasonal operation, March to October).

DISSOLVED OXYGEN: July 2013 to October 2017r (seasonal operation, March to October).

PH: July 2013 to October 2017(seasonal operation, March to October).

COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by Lake Lynn Generation, LLC.

INSTRUMENTATION - Water quality monitor, measuring water temperature, specific conductance, pH, and dissolved oxygen at a 15-minute sampling interval. Satellite telemetry at station.

REMARKS -

Data collection suspended in winter months. Other interruptions in the records are due to equipment malfunctions.

Historically, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius.

Cross-sectional water quality data is available upon request.

For water year 2014: Records for water temperature, specific conductance, and pH are rated good. Records for dissolved oxygen are rated good, except for September 9-30, which are rated fair.

For water year 2015: Records for water temperature and pH are rated good. Records for specific conductance are rated good, except for July 17 to September 30, which are rated fair. Records for dissolved oxygen are rated good, except for April 1 to May 1, which are rated fair.

For water year 2016: Records for water temperature are rated good. Records for specific conductance are rated good, except for October 1-4 and May 18 to June 2, which are fair, and October 5-19 and June 3-12, which are poor. Records for pH are rated good, except for April 16-17, which are fair. Records for dissolved oxygen are rated good.

For water year 2017, records for water temperature and dissolved oxygen are rated good. Records for specific conductance are rated good, except for October 1-31, which are fair. Records for pH are rated good, except for August 2 to September 30, which are fair.
