LOCATION - Lat 38°55'17.92", long 81°05'41.72" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Calhoun County, WV, Hydrologic Unit 05030203, on the left bank, on downstream side of highway bridge on State Route 16 at Grantsville, 200 ft downstream from Philip Run, 4.9 mi downstream from Steer Creek, 1.3 mi upstream from Leafbank Run, and at mile 80.1.
DRAINAGE AREA - 913 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1275: 1929(M), 1932-36.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1928 to September 1974 (daily discharge and peaks, monthly discharge only October to December 1928 published in WSP 1305), October 1974 to September 1978 (daily discharge and annual maxima), October 1978 to September 2002 (annual maxima), October 2002 to September 2008 (annual maximum gage height), October 2008 to September 2012 (annual maximum and minimum gage height), October 2012 to current year (daily mean gage height).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 652.21 ft above NAVD88 (GNSS Level II survey). 
REMARKS - Flow partially regulated since 1968 by five floodwater-detention reservoirs affecting 49.5 mi², and regulated since 1979 by Burnsville Reservoir at mile 124.2.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION - Maximum discharge, 35,100 ft³/s, Mar. 7, 1967, gage height, 43.9 ft, from floodmarks.
AVERAGE DISCHARGE FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - 51 years (1929 to 1979 water years), 1,328 ft³/s, 19.75 in/yr.
