LOCATION - Lat 37°54'31.0", long 80°17'23.6" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Greenbrier County, WV, Hydrologic Unit 05050003, gage is on right bank in the Big Draft Wilderness area approximately 3.5 miles upstream of the confluence with the Greenbrier River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 143 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Water years 1949, 1951-53, 1957, 1960, 1966, 1968-71 (occasional low-flow discharge measurements only), October 1971 to September 1982 (daily discharge and peaks).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1863.67 ft +/- .10 NAVD 88. 
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Jan. 23, 1996 reached a stage of 21.35 ft (from floodmarks), discharge, 27,400 ft³/s, from slope-conveyance rating extension, discharge is the highest since 1918.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 19,700 ft³/s, gage height 19.3 ft (from floodmarks), from rating extended above 1,100 ft³/s; minimum daily, 6.2 ft³/s, Nov. 7, 1978; minimum gage height, 6.16 ft, July 17-19, 23-25, Aug. 8-10, 12, 13, 1977.
AVERAGE DISCHARGE FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - 11 years, 207 ft³/s, 19.52 in/yr.
