LOCATION - Lat 37°27'51", long 82°31'35" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Pike County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05070203, on right bank 20 feet downstream from bridge on State Hwy 1426, 0.75 miles downstream from Lank Branch, 1.0 mile south of Pikeville, 1.5 miles upstream from Harolds Branch, and at mile 117.3.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,232 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WRD KY 78-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1937 to current year. Gage-height records collected in this vicinity since 1907 are contained in reports of National Weather Service.
GAGE - Water stage recorder with telemetry.  Datum of gage is 631.26 ft. above the North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Formerly 631.98 ft above NGVD of 1929.  Datum incorrectly reported in NWIS site file as  632.88 feet above NGVD29 since at least 2009-06-22. The site file was corrected on 9/1/2020.  Prior to September 23, 1944, non-recording gage at site 2.3 miles downstream at datum 2.65 feet higher.  September 23, 1944 to September 30, 1952, water-stage recorder 2.3 miles downstream at datum 1.65 feet higher.  October 1, 1952 to September 30, 1979, at site 2.1 miles downstream at NGVD 1929 datum.
REMARKS - Flow regulated since October 1968 by Fishtrap Lake, since August 1966 by North Fork Pound River Lake, and March 1965 by John V. Flannagan Lake.
