LOCATION - Lat 38°36'00", long 84°15'59" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Pendleton County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05100101, on right bank at upstream side of highway bridge at McKinneysburg, 6.5 miles southeast of Falmouth, 9.0 miles upstream from Blanket Creek, 12.9 miles upstream from South Fork, and at mile 64.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 2,326 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1705: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1924 to August 1926, October 1938 to September 1994, September 2000 to current year. Monthly discharge only for October, November 1938, published in WSP 1305.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, and crest stage gage. Datum of gage is 520.83 feet above NGVD of 1929. July 23, 1924 to August 9, 1926, nonrecording gage at same site, datum unknown. November 18, 1938 to June 30, 1939, nonrecording gage at present site and datum. October 1, 1949 to September 30, 1957, auxiliary water-stage recorder 4.0 miles downstream.

REMARKS - Flow regulated since December 1973 by Cave Run Lake (station 03249498).
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in January 1937 reached a stage of 47.8 feet from flood marks. Flood of March 1997 reached a stage of 55.21 feet from flood marks. Discharge for the March 1997 flood was 74,000 ft³/s from rating extension.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height 50.26' on March 10, 1964; maximum discharge 59100 ft³/s on March 10, 1964. Lowest daily mean discharge 44 ft³/s on August 17, 2002.
