LOCATION - Lat 38°46'29", long 84°57'52" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Gallatin County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05090203, on left bank at downstream end of lock guide wall in lower pool at Markland Dam, 0.4 miles upstream from Stephens Creek, 3.4 miles west of Warsaw, and at mile 531.5.

DRAINAGE AREA - 83,170 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR KY-88-1: 1987.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1970 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with telemetry in tailwater gage. Datum of gage is 407.26 ft. above NGVD29.  Datum of headwater gage 0.5 miles upstream is 443 feet Ohio River datum. Datum of tailwater gage 0.4 miles downstream is 35 feet lower. Records of Markland Dam gate operations, headwater gage readings, and turbine flow are furnished by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by Ohio River system of locks, dams, and reservoirs upstream from station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Jan. 26, 1937, reached a stage of 76.1 feet (tailwater gage).
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height 60.72' on March 6, 1997; maximum discharge 582000 ft³/s on March 6, 1997. Lowest daily mean discharge 2790 on August 30, 2015.
