LOCATION - Lat 37°47'02", long 84°06'12" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Estill County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05100205, on upstream right bank of Lock 11, 0.6 miles downstream from Flint Creek, 1.0 mile east of College Hill, 1.0 mile upstream from Lick Run, and at mile 201.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,219 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WRD KY05-1: Datum of gage was corrected from 575.60 feet NGVD of 1929 to 573.072 feet NGVD of 1929 on May 3, 2007.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 2002 to current year.
GAGE - Fixed weir dam with water-stage recorder and crest stage gage. Datum is 572.70 feet above NAVD of 1988 and 573.07 ft above NGVD of 1929.
COOPERATION - Kentucky River Authority.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by Buckhorn Lake beginning December 1960 (station 03280800), and by Carr Fork Lake beginning January 1976 (station 03277446). Small diversions by City of Lexington waterworks.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height 40.44 ft. on Mar 3, 2021; maximum discharge 87,600 ft³/s on Mar 3, 2021. Lowest daily mean discharge 44 ft³/s on September 3, 2007.
