03313000 BARREN RIVER NEAR FINNEY, KY
LOCATION - Lat 36°53'42", long 86°08'02" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Allen County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05110002, on left bank 1,200 feet upstream from Lock and Dam 6, 0.8 miles downstream from Port Oliver Ford, 2,500 feet upstream from Difficult Creek, 0.5 miles downstream from Barren River Dam, 2.1 miles southwest of Finney, and at mile 78.7.
DRAINAGE AREA - 942 mi² of which 77 mi² probably is noncontributing.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - February 1987 to present.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 400.00 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
COOPERATION - U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District.
REMARKS - All flow will be regulated by gates in the conduit of the dam. During extreme floods spillway flow will bypass the gaging station but this will be a rare occurrence. Data on the reservoir is as follows: Minimum pool 520 ft, 46,600 acre-ft; seasonal pool 552 ft, spillway crest (ungated) 590 ft, 815,200 acre-ft. Minimum pool elevation spillway flow can bypass station 590 ft.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum recorded 27.8°C , August 19, 2000; minimum recorded 1.4°C , February 6, 1996.
