LOCATION - Lat 39°43'03", long 87°04'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.28, T.15 N., R.6 W., Parke County, IN, Hydrologic Unit 05120108, the gage is in the discharge tower of the reservoir on Big Raccoon Creek, 0.7 mi north of Ferndale, 1.7 mi northeast of Co. Rd. 92 (Ferndale Rd) and at river mile 33.79.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - 1961 to September 1983. March 31, 2010 to September 30, 2010. Published as "Mansfield Reservoir" prior to October 1970 and as "Mansfield Lake" October 1970 to September 1974.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder installed in dam tower. DATUM OF GAGE.--0.00 ft. above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Prior to March 31, 2010 the datum of gage was 600.00 ft above NGVD of 1929. SURFACE AREA.--1,100 acres (winter pool), 2,060 acres summer pool), 3,910 acres (flood pool). ESTABLISHED LEGAL LEVEL.--Not established. LAKE-LEVEL CONTROL.--The level of the lake is controlled by an earth-filled dam. INLET AND OULET.--Big Raccoon Creek flows through the lake. The other main inlets are: Ramp Creek, Byrd Branch, and Troutman branch. Big Raccoon Creek flows from the lake at the southern end and eventually empties into the Wabash River.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage 676.52 ft, May 4, 1964; minimum stage, 639.78 ft, Feb. 10, 1977.
