LOCATION - Lat 39°31'45.3", long 85°46'39.1" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.31, T.13 N., R.7 E., Shelby County, IN, Hydrologic Unit 05120204, on upstream side of State Highway 9 bridge in Shelbyville, 0.4 mi downstream from Little Blue River, and at mile 23.9.
DRAINAGE AREA - 421 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1505: 1944. WSP 1909: 1959(M). WSP 2109: Drainage area. WDR IN-79-1: 1975.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 1943 to current year. Prior to October 1961, published as Blue River at Shelbyville.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder.  Datum of gage is 737.21 feet above the North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Formerly 737.67 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Prior to Oct. 1, 1953, non-recording gage at bridge 0.2 mi upstream at datum 3.5 ft higher.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in March 1913 reached a stage of about 20.2 ft from floodmarks.
