LOCATION - Lat 37°28'21.3", long 88°32'51.7" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.16, T.12 S., R.6 E., Pope County, IL, Hydrologic Unit 05140203, on right bank at upstream side of County Highway 5 bridge, 2.8 miles southeast of Eddyville, in Shawnee National Forest, and at mile 17.7.

DRAINAGE AREA - 42.9 mi².

REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR IL-75-1: Drainage area.
Revisions: Gage datum was revised to 361.89 ft NAVD88 on June 14, 2022, as determined by a GNSS Level II survey. Gage datum was previously published in error as 360.42 ft NGVD29 (360.17 ft NAVD 1988) from levels.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 16,100 ft³/s, Aug. 24, 1985, from rating curve extended above 23.5 ft, based on contracted-opening measurement, gage height, 27.78 ft; no flow for several days in most years.
SUSPENDED-SEDIMENT CONCENTRATIONS: Maximum daily mean, 299 mg/L May 18, 1981; minimum daily mean, 0 mg/L on many days each year.
