03400500 POOR FORK AT CUMBERLAND, KY
LOCATION - Lat 36°58'26", long 82°59'35" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Harlan County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05130103, Harlan County, at left end on upstream side of State Highway 179 bridge at Cumberland, 250 feet upstream from Cloverlick Creek, 0.6 miles downstream from Looney Creek, and at mile 718.8.
DRAINAGE AREA - 82.3 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1940 to September 1992. Operated as crest-stage partial record station by USGS October 1992 to September 2003. Operated by NCOE contractor October 2003 to May 2009 as stage-only gage. Operated as full discharge station by USGS June 2009 to current year.
GAGE - Water stage recorder with crest stage gage for peak verification. Datum is 1409.72 feet above NAVD of 1988 and 1410.15 ft above NGVD of 1929.  Prior to October 1, 1968, at same site and datum 5.00 feet higher.
COOPERATION - Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District and National Stream Information Program.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in January 1927 reached a stage of about 15.2 feet, present datum.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 11,800 ft³/s, January 29, 1957, gage height, 16.50 feet, present datum, from rating curve extended above 3,500 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow: no flow for part of October 28, 1952.
