03447687 FRENCH BROAD RIVER NEAR FLETCHER, NC
LOCATION - Lat 35°25'45", long 82°33'09" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Henderson County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 06010105, on right bank 30 ft downstream of bridge on Secondary Road 1419, 0.4 mi downstream from McDowell Creek, 2.9 mi west of Fletcher, and at river mile 165.3.
DRAINAGE AREA - 640 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY -

WDR NC-04-1: 2001-2003 (annual maximum discharges).

Gage datum was revised on October 01, 2020, based on an error in the determination of the gage datum.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 2001 to current year.
GAGE - Data collection platform. Elevation of gage is 2,032.8 ft above NAVD of 1988. Satellite telemetry at streamgage.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally good except for estimated discharges, which are fair. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-nc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 2019 to current year.
COOPERATION - The water quality aspect of this site is run in cooperation with the NC Department of Transportation. 
INSTRUMENTATION - This site is run using YSI EXO3 multiparameter sondes that are swapped between continuous monitor and field monitor approximately every two months. The sondes are calibrated in the Asheville Field office. Upon swapping the sondes calibration checks are completed within 24 hours of swapping sondes. All calibration techniques are derived from the USGS National Field Manual for the Collection of Water-Quality Data as well as manufacturer recommendations.
REMARKS - Station operated to define water-quality characteristics in the French Broad River Basin.
