LOCATION - Lat 36°36'31", long 82°34'05" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Scott County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 06010101, on left bank 75 ft upstream from bridge on U.S. Highway 23, 1.6 miles downstream from Big Moccasin Creek, 2.1 miles southeast of Gate City, and at mile 8.8.
DRAINAGE AREA - 671 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - 1932 to 1981 (operated as a continuous-record gaging station), 1982 to 2005 (records provided by Tennessee Valley Authority, annual peaks only). April 2012 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1196.9 ft NAVD88 previously reported as 1,197.56 ft NGVD of 1929.
