LOCATION - Lat 36°55'45", long 82°27'23" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Wise County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 06010205, on right bank 30 ft downstream from bridge on State Highway 72, 1.0 mi southwest of Coeburn, 1.4 mi upstream from Jaybird Branch, 1.8 mi downstream from Pine Camp Creek, and at mile 6.3.
DRAINAGE AREA - 87.2 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1436: 1950(P), 1955(P). Daily and instantaneous Specific Conductance record from Aug. 23, 2012 to Oct. 31, 2016 have been revised and supersede previously published figures.

REMARKS - Maximum discharge, 18,000 ft³/s, Apr. 5, 1977, gage height, 20.95 ft, from rating curve extended above 3,500 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow.
