LOCATION - Lat 35°17'48.19", long 85°52'11.19" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Grundy County, TN, Hydrologic Unit 06030003, on top of left abutment at downstream side of bridge on U.S. Highway 41, 1.1 mi southeast of Pelham, 1.8 mi upstream from Caldwell Creek, and at mile 194.2.
DRAINAGE AREA - 65.6 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WRD TN 1973: 1963(P), 1965(M), 1966(P), 1969(M), 1970-71(P).
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1951 to November 1987, November 2000 to current year.
GAGE - Data collection platform, stage sensor, and permanent rain gage. Datum of gage Nov. 30, 1987 to present: 980.997 ft NAVD88 (980.99 NGVD of 1929). Prior to Nov 30, 1987 Datum of gage was 981.62 ft above NGVD of 1929 (levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).
REMARKS - Records fair except for estimated daily discharges which are poor and other periods as noted. August 4, 2015 to December 8, 2015 and August 21, 2017 to December 12, 2017 which are rated poor due to beaver dam activity.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 15,800 ft³/s, Mar. 16, 1973, gage height, 14.08 ft; minimum discharge, 0.21 ft³/s, Oct. 7, 2008.
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 1, 2011 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Unshielded, standard 8-inch diameter, tipping-bucket precipitation gage, without heater, mounted on top of gage house tower with the top of the collector approximately 10 ft. above ground.
REMARKS - Precipitation data collected during freezing periods may not accurately reflect daily record.
