DRAINAGE AREA - 83.6 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1974 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 640 ft above sea level (from topographic map) until 7/12/2017. Datum of gage is 616.37 ft. NAVD 1988 7/12/2017 to present.
REMARKS - Flow regulated intermittently by fish ladder operation just upstream of gage until 07/12/2017.
Daily discharge record considered good, except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.

Maximum discharge, 25,500 ft³/s, from rating extrapolation, gage-height, 12.81 ft, June 20, 2012 Datum then in use; maximum daily-mean discharge, 11,900 ft³/s, June 20, 2012; minimum discharge, 0.00 ft³/s, Dec. 2, 1976 (many days, several years).

Effective July 12, 2017, stage readings for a given discharge are higher than previous record as a result of relocating the gage upstream to MN Trunk Highway 61. The gage datum also changed as noted above. For more information, contact the USGS at the link at the bottom of the page.

REMARKS - This site is part of a statewide sediment study. The objectives of the study are to collect site specific data for streamflow, cross-sectional suspended sediment concentrations (SSC) and point samples of SSC, turbidity and water transparency at selected stream sites in Minnesota.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - TURBIDITY: Maximum, 1,770 FNU, July 8, 2018; maximum daily, >565 FNU, October 3, 2017 (Possibly higher on July 9, 2018); minimum, <0.5 FNU, many days, several years.
