LOCATION - Lat 44°36'46", long 83°50'16" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.28, T.26 N., R.5 E., Alcona County, MI, Hydrologic Unit 04070007, on right bank, upstream side of U.S. Forest Service 4001 bridge on Au Sable River Road, 5.5 mi southeast of McKinley.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,513 mi².

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 824.483 above NAVD88.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 4,990 ft³/s, Apr. 1, 1998, gage height, 10.73 ft; maximum gage height, 17.24 ft, Jan. 15, 2022, backwater from ice; minimum discharge, 363 ft³/s, Mar. 11, 2003, result of freezeup.
