LOCATION - Lat 42°52'23.6", long 77°16'21.5" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Ontario County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 04140201, at comfort station in middle of city pier at northern end of Canandaigua Lake, 1 mi southeast of Canandaigua.
DRAINAGE AREA - unknown

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1939 to September 2014 (discontinued, daily gage heights prior to October 1975, elevations thereafter). December 1927 to November 1939, records for site on west side of E. T. Waldorf's boathouse collected by, and in files of, city of Canandaigua.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is NGVD of 1929. To convert elevations to NAVD of 1988, subtract 0.50 ft. Prior to June 26, 1946, nonrecording gage at E. T. Waldorf's boathouse at datum 681.17 ft higher. June 26, 1946 to Sept. 30, 1975, at present site, at datum 681.17 ft higher.
REMARKS - Lake elevation regulated by one gate on West outlet, which is a 1.5 mi long canal, and by two gates on East outlet, which is the natural outlet. Sill elevations of West and East outflow structures are 684.37 ft and 684.94 ft, respectively. Water diverted for municipal supply for villages of Newark, Palmyra, and Gorham. Records of diversion in files of City of Canandaigua. Area of water surface, 16.6 mi².
