04279000 LA CHUTE AT TICONDEROGA, NY
LOCATION - Lat 43°50'38.5", long 73°25'54.8" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Essex County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 04150408, on right bank 250 ft downstream from powerplant and third ("C" Mill) dam downstream of Lake George outlet, at Ticonderoga, 250 ft upstream from Trout Brook, and 0.5 mi downstream from upper ("A" Mill) dam.
DRAINAGE AREA - 234 mi².  
REVISIONS HISTORY - WRD NY 1971: 1970.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1904 to December 1905, October 1942 to September 1979, April 2018 to September 2019. Prior to October 1973, published as "Lake George Outlet at Ticonderoga."
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, and concrete control on river channel. Datum of gage is 187.41 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 186.89 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Apr. 24, 2018, at datum 3.00 ft higher.
REMARKS - Flow completely regulated by dam and hydroelectric plant at Lake George (station 04278000) 0.5 mi upstream as well as by dams and hydroelectric plants at "B" and "C" mill ponds, 0.4 and 0.1 mi upstream. Records represent total discharge from Lake George and include the sum of flow in the river channel (station 04279000, river discharge) and tailrace (station 04279001). Water Years 2018-19: Records fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum daily discharge, 1,370 ft³/s, Mar. 17, 1977; minimum daily discharge, 0.50 ft³/s, Sept. 9, 1976.
