LOCATION - Lat 44°16'05", long 72°37'28" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Washington County, VT, Hydrologic Unit 04150403, at US 2, 300 ft northwest of Lower Sunny Brook Road and Theodore Roosevelt Highway (US 2) intersection, 600 ft northwest of I 89 overpass of Theodore Roosevelt Highway (US 2), 0.3 mi upstream from mouth at Winooski River, 0.7 mi east of the mouth of Jones Brook at Winooski River, and 2.2 mi west of Main Street (VT 12) and State Street (US 2) intersection in Montpelier.
DRAINAGE AREA - 2.31 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge records: October 1963 to September 1974 at site on left bank 20 ft upstream of culvert. Published as Sonny Brook near Montpelier, October 1963 to September 1974. Peak Streamflow: Water years 1964 to 1973, 1999 to current year.
GAGE - Crest stage gage. Water-stage recorder for period October 1963 to September 1974. Elevation of gage is 510 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map.

REMARKS - A crest-stage gage is a device which will register the maximum stage occurring between inspections of the gage. The discharge is determined from the stage using indirect measurement techniques. The date of the maximum discharge is not always certain, but is usually determined by comparison with nearby continuous record stations, weather records, or local inquiry. Only the maximum discharge for each water year is given. Information of some lower floods may have been obtained, but is not published within. The years given in the period of record represent water years for which the annual maximum has been determined.
