LOCATION - Lat 44°55'06", long 73°03'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Franklin County, Hydrologic Unit 04150407, on left bank, 40 ft downstream of Highgate Road (VT 207), 0.2 mi southwest of Cook Road and Highgate Road (VT 207) intersection, 0.8 mi southwest of Brosseau Road and Highgate Road (VT 207) intersection at Highgate Falls, 1.0 mi upstream from mouth at Missisquoi River, 1.0 mi northeast of Town Highway 19 and Highgate Road (VT 207) intersection, and 1.5 mi southwest of Lamkin Road, St. Armand Road, and VT Route 78 (VT 78/207) intersection in Highgate Center.
DRAINAGE AREA - 18.6 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 3,2009 to October 3, 2011, August 29,2012 to October 7, 2014 (discontinued).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 270 ft above sea level, from topographic map.
COOPERATION - University of Vermont
REMARKS - Records generally good except those below 1.0 ft³/s and estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 1,360 ft³/s, April 27,2011 , gage-height 6.02 ft, from rating curve extended above 420 ft³/s. Minimum discharge, 0.04 ft³/s, August 9, 2011.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Precipitation Records: September 2009 to current year. Air Temperature Records: September 2009 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Precipitation Record:Unshielded, standard 8-in. diameter, tipping-bucket precipitation gage, mounted on top of gage house with the top of the collector 10 ft above the ground. A snowfall adapter with antifreeze reservoir is used seasonally. Air Temperature Record:Thermistor and radiation shield mounted on the side of the gage house 6 ft above the ground.
REMARKS - Precipitation records for November 23 to April 14 may be less accurate than other periods (snowfall adapter and antifreeze reservoir in use which may delay the measurement of precipitation). Air temperature records are considered fair.
