Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 940.03 ft above NAVD88 (levels by USACE, April 2017). Prior to conversion to NAVD88, datum was published as 939.24 ft above NGVD of 1929.
These surface-water records are for the flood flows from the Otter Tail River that are diverted around Breckenridge, MN. The streamgage was initially established in 2004 on the MN State Highway 9 bridge which crosses the diversion channel. Streamgage was moved 0.40 miles upstream to just upstream of the diversion control weir on September 15, 2022.
Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for the 2019 and 2023 water years, when record was fair and the 2020 and 2021 water year, when record was poor. Discharges below 5 ft³/sec and estimated discharges are poor, unless otherwise noted.
REGULATION.--Flow regulated by Orwell Reservoir, flood storage capacity, 13,300 acre-ft at elevation 1,070 ft above mean sea level, adjustment of 1912.
