05051522 RED RIVER OF THE NORTH AT HICKSON, ND
LOCATION - Lat 46°39'35", long 96°47'44" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in sec.19, T.137 N., R.48 W., Cass County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09020104, on right bank 60 ft downstream from bridge on township road and 1 mi southeast of Hickson.
DRAINAGE AREA - 4,300 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Revisions: Discharge for the period Nov. 10, 2019, to Dec. 02, 2019, was revised on Feb. 13, 2021, to be estimated instead of computed, based on temperature and comparison flow data.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DAILY DISCHARGE--October 1975 to current year.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--October 2000 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and concrete control. Datum of the gage is 877.77 feet above North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88) and 876.38 feet above National Geodetic Vertical Datum 1929 (NGVD29).

Previous locations and datums are as follows:

October 1975 to August 2007, recording gage at current location at datum 0.68 feet higher.

September 2007 to present, recording gage at current location and at current datum.

REMARKS -

Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for estimated discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted.

REGULATION--Flow regulated by: Orwell Reservoir, flood storage capacity, 13,300 acre-ft at elevation 1,070 ft above mean sea level, adjustment of 1912; Mud Lake, flood storage capacity, 78,600 acre-ft at elevation 981 ft above mean sea level, adjustment of 1912; Lake Traverse, flood storage capacity, 75,100 acre-ft at elevation 981 ft above mean sea level, adjustment of 1912; and numerous other controlled lakes, ponds and several powerplants.
