LOCATION - Lat 48°26'53", long 99°06'08" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.01, T.157 N., R.66 W., Towner County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09020201, on left bank 0.45 mi upstream from county bridge, about 4 mi upstream from west fork of Mauvais Coulee, and 5.5 mi southeast of Cando.
DRAINAGE AREA - 387 mi² of which 10 mi² probably is noncontributing.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DAILY DISCHARGE--June 1956 to current year (seasonal records only 1982-93 and 1995 to current year).

PERIOD OF RECORD.--DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--March 2000 to current year (seasonal records only).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 1,445 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map. Prior to July 2, 1957, nonrecording gage at present site and datum.
REMARKS -

10/01/13-09/30/14: Records fair except for daily discharges less than 0.5 ft³/s and estimated discharges, which are poor. Daily discharges were computed at bridge on county road about 7.4 mi upstream where no backwater from Devils Lake was present. Backwater conditions from Devils Lake continued for the entire water year.

10/01/14-09/30/15: Records poor. Daily discharges were computed at bridge on county road about 7.4 mi upstream where no backwater from Devils Lake was present. Backwater conditions from Devils Lake continued for the entire water year.

10/01/15-09/30/16: Records fair. Daily discharges were computed at bridge on county road about 7.4 mi upstream where no backwater from Devils Lake was present. Backwater conditions from Devils Lake continued for the entire water year.

10/01/16-09/30/17: Records fair. Daily discharges were computed at bridge on county road about 7.4 mi upstream where no backwater from Devils Lake was present. Backwater conditions from Devils Lake continued for part of the water year.

EXTREMES FOR WATER YEAR 2014.--Maximum peak flow, 388 ft³/s, May 4, peak stage, 8.37 ft. Maximum peak stage, 8.89 ft, June 29, backwater from Devils Lake; no flow for many days.

EXTREMES FOR WATER YEAR 2015.--Maximum peak flow, 66 ft³/s, May 19, peak stage, 6.78 ft. Maximum peak stage, 7.66 ft, July 28, backwater from Devils Lake; no flow for many days.

EXTREMES FOR WATER YEAR 2016.--Maximum peak flow, 260 ft³/s, August 12, peak stage, 6.29 ft. Maximum peak stage, 6.34 ft, August 11, backwater from Devils Lake; no flow for many days.

EXTREMES FOR WATER YEAR 2017.--Maximum peak flow, 2,680 ft³/s, April 3, peak stage, 11.62 ft; no flow for many days.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of June 16, 1954, reached a stage of 9.83 ft, and flood of April 20, 1956, reached a stage of 10.71 ft, from floodmarks set by local resident.
