LOCATION - Lat 46°45'06", long 96°55'33" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.24, T.138 N., R.50 W., Cass County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09020204, at diversion structure 1 mi southwest of Horace.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DAILY DISCHARGE--October 1992 to current year.

DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--April 2014 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and concrete control. Prior to April 7, 2014, the water-stage recorder for Sheyenne River above Sheyenne River Diversion near Horace (station 05059300) was used to obtain stage record for this station. Datum of gage is 890.55 ft above North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88, survey done by USGS) and 890.00 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum 1929 (NGVD29).
REMARKS -

Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for the 2019, 2020 and 2022 water years, when records were rated fair.  Estimated discharges are poor, unless otherwise noted.

REGULATION AND DIVERSION.--Records are for the flow that is diverted from the Sheyenne River at this location. When flows are greater than about 1,000 ft³/s at Sheyenne River above Sheyenne River Diversion near Horace (station 05059300), diversions are made in order to control flood discharges downstream. The diverted flow returns to the Sheyenne River main channel at a location about 13 mi downstream, below the city of West Fargo. EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow, 2,900 ft³/s, April 10, 2019, peak stage, 25.78 ft; maximum peak stage, 26.66 ft, March 25, 1999, from high-water mark, backwater from ice and closure of diversion channel.
