LOCATION - Lat 47°24'34", long 97°03'39" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in sec.05, T.145 N., R.50 W., Traill County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09020109, on right bank 600 ft upstream from Foogman Dam in Hillsboro and 27.5 mi upstream from mouth.

DRAINAGE AREA - 1,203 mi² of which 110 mi² probably is noncontributing.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD -

DAILY DISCHARGE--April 1931 to current year (no winter records 1932-34). Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1308.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--October 2000 to current year.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and masonry dam. Datum of gage is 880.45 ft above North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88, Survey by USGS) and 879.52 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum 1929 (NGVD29).

Previous locations and datums are as follows: 

March 17, 1931 to March 20, 1935; Chain gage at site 1,000 ft downstream. Datum was 868.07 ft NGVD29.

March 21, 1935 to March 28, 1940; Chain gage 600 ft downstream. Datum was 868.07 ft NGVD29.

March 29, 1940 to September 25,1941; staff gage at present location. Datum was 879.52 ft NGVD29. 

REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for the 2019 and 2023 water years, when records were fair.  Estimated discharges are poor, unless otherwise noted.
