LOCATION - Lat 48°25'29", long 97°24'42" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in sec.13, T.157 N., R.53 W., Walsh County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09020310, on right bank just upstream of U.S. Highway 81 bridge in Grafton and 3.5 mi downstream from South Branch Park River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 695 mi². approximately.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 955: 1941. WSP 1438: 1932, 1933(M), 1936-37(M), 1939(M), 1944. WSP 1728: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DAILY DISCHARGE--May 1931 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1308.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--October 2000 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and concrete control. Datum of gage is 812.07 feet above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) and is 811.00 feet above National Geodetic Vertical Datum 1929 (NGVD29).

Previous locations and datums are as follows;

July 26, 1952 to October 1, 1984, gage located 0.2 miles downstream, on right bank 30 ft upstream of Wakeman Avenue bridge at datum of 3.61 feet lower.

September 18, 1946 to July 25, 1952, non-recording gage located 0.2 miles downstream on Wakeman Avenue bridge at datum of 807.39 feet above NGVD29.

October 1, 1940, to September 17, 1946, non-recording gage located 2.2 miles downstream at datum of 807.39 feet above NGVD29.

May 1931 to September 30, 1940; non-recording gage located 0.2 miles downstream on Wakeman Avenue bridge at datum 807.39 feet above NGVD29.

REMARKS -

Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for discharges below 10 ft³/s and estimated discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted.  For the 2019 water year, computed discharges below 10 ft³/s were fair, estimated discharges still poor.  For the 2021 and 2023 water years, computed discharges were fair, except for discharges below 10 ft³/s and estimated discharges, which were poor. 

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow, 12,600 ft³/s, April 19, 1950, from rating curve extended above 9,000 ft³/s. Maximum peak stage, 20.13 ft, April 19, 1950, site and datum then in use (maximum peak stage, 16.52 ft, present datum).
