05092000 RED RIVER OF THE NORTH AT DRAYTON, ND
LOCATION - Lat 48°34'20", long 97°08'50" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in sec.29, T.159 N., R.50 W., Pembina County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09020311, on downstream side of bridge on North Dakota State Highway 66, at the North Dakota-Minnesota border, 1.5 mi northeast of Drayton, and at mile 206.7.
DRAINAGE AREA - 34,800 mi². approximately, includes 3,800 mi² in closed basins.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1388: 1949-50. WSP 1728: Drainage area.

Revisions: Discharge for the period February 20, 2017, to March 29, 2017, was revised on April 11, 2018, based on a comparison to daily discharges for the Red River at Emerson (05102500), furnished by the Water Survey of Canada.

Water-stage recorder and concrete control. Datum of gage is 756.06 feet above National American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88, Survey done by USGS) and 755.00 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum 1929 (NGVD29)

Previous locations and datums are as follows:

April 1936 to June 1937, April 1941 to November 29, 1954; non-recording gage 1.5 miles upstream, datum was 756.59 ft above NGVD29.

REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for the 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023 water years, when records were fair.  Estimated discharges are poor, unless otherwise noted.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of April 1897 reached a stage of about 41 ft at site and datum in use prior to November 30, 1954.
