LOCATION - Lat 48°46'42", long 97°44'47" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in sec.10, T.161 N., R.55 W., Pembina County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09020316, on left bank 300 ft downstream from Renwick Dam, 0.9 mi northwest of Akra, and 6 mi west of Cavalier.
DRAINAGE AREA - 160 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DAILY DISCHARGE--March 1946 to September 1950, miscellaneous discharge measurements only, April to June 1950 (WSP 1137-B), October 1951 to current year (seasonal record since 1983).

PERIOD OF RECORD.--DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--March 2001 to current year (seasonal records only).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 931.30 ft above NAVD88. Datum was converted to NAVD88 Datum using the National Geodetic Survey's VDATUM transformation tool in November 2017. Prior to conversion to NAVD88, datum of gage was published as 930.00 ft. above NGVD of 1929.

Previous locations and datums are as follows:

April 1950 to June 30, 1954; chain gage and high water staff 1.5 mi downstream at datum 900.00 ft above NGVD29.

July 1, 1954 to December 19, 1973; water stage recorder 2.7 mi downstream at datum 920.90 ft above NGVD29.

REMARKS -

Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for the 2022 and 2023 water years, when records were fair.  Estimated discharges are poor, unless otherwise noted.

REGULATION.--Flow regulated by temporary retention in ten retarding basins beginning 300 ft above station, four of which have slow release outlet structures to regulate the flow. Retarding basins were completed during the period 1955 to 1961 and have a combined capacity of 19,245 acre-ft.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -

Current Location (1973 to present); maximum peak flow, 1,810 ft³/s, gage height, 20.44 ft., May 01, 2022.

Previous Locations (1950 to 1972); maximum peak flow, 11,800 ft³/s, April 18, 1950, from rating curve extended above 1,500 ft³/s on basis of contracted opening measurement of peak flow. Gage height 48.7 ft, from floodmark, site and datum then in use.
