LOCATION - Lat 48°22'20", long 101°30'18" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.34, T.157 N., R.84 W., Ward County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 09010008, on left bank 30 ft upstream from county highway bridge, 3 mi east of Foxholm, and at mile 414.5.
DRAINAGE AREA - 9,470 mi² of which 6,200 mi² probably is noncontributing.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DAILY DISCHARGE--October 1936 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1308. Published as Mouse River near Foxholm, 1904-06.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--June 1904 to November 1905, March to July 1906, October 2000 to current year.
GAGE -

Water-stage recorder and sheet piling weir. 

Datum of the gage is 1,562.04 feet above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) and 1,560.73 feet above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29). 

June 23, 1904, to July 31, 1906, nonrecording gage at site 3.2 mi upstream at different datum.

April 1, 1937, to March 25, 1938, nonrecording gage at site 600 ft downstream at datum about 0.5 ft higher.

REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for estimated discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted.

REGULATION.--Flow almost completely regulated since 1936 by Lake Darling (station 05115500), also regulation by reservoirs in Canada:
Boundary Reservoir, 48,990 acre-ft - 1958;
Rafferty Reservoir, 356,400 acre-ft - 1991;
Alameda Reservoir, 85,560 acre-ft - 1992;
and several small reservoirs with total combined capacity, about 646,000 acre-ft. Some small diversions for irrigation and municipal supply.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - A maximum instantaneous reverse flow of -25 ft³/s, April 4, 1949, and a daily mean of -5.0 ft³/s, April 5, 1949, was caused by backwater from the Des Lacs River.
