  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2024
05341752 WILLOW RIVER AT WILLOW RIVER STATE PARK NEAR BURKHART, WI
LOCATION - Lat 45°00'42", long 92°42'30" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.8, T.29 N., R.19 W., St. Croix County, WI, Hydrologic Unit 07030005, on left bank, 0.4 mi downstream from outlet of Little Falls Lake and 2.1 mi southeast of Burkhart.
DRAINAGE AREA - 292 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - The discharge record was revised for the period of 7/4/2017-10-3/2018 due to an incorrect gage height correction that was later verified by levels on 6/27/2018. For the affected period, the computed unit value discharge was estimated to be 5-7% high.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1998 to September 1999, June 2005 to September 2006, September 2012 to October 2023(Discontinued).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 708.32 ft above sea level, from topographic map.
REMARKS - Records are considered good except for estimated daily discharges which are poor and other periods as noted. For records status prior to October 1, 2013, see remarks printed in annual water-data reports. 10/06/2013-10/09/2013: Records fair. 12/10/2013-12/16/2013: Records fair. 04/01/2014: Record fair. Regulation from dam at outlet of Little Falls Lake, 0.4 mi upstream from gage.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2012 to September 30, 2020 for water quality samples. August 18, 2020 to October 2023 for water temperature(Discontinued).
INSTRUMENTATION -

Water-quality sampler October 2012 to September 30, 2020. Chemical analyses by the Water and Environmental Analysis Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Analytes by water year are as follows: total phosphorus (2013-September 30, 2020), dissolved phosphorus and suspended sediment (2014-September 30, 2020), and total kjeldahl nitrogen, ammonia, nitrate/nitrite (2014-2015).

FTS DigiTemp temperatue probe installed 8/18/2020, serial number 118161.

REMARKS - Records are considered good unless they are estimated, in which case they are poor. Loads based on good discharge data without estimated concentrations should be considered good, while loads based on poor discharge data or that which incorporates many estimated concentrations should be considered poor. Loads between October 1, 2015 and February 24, 2016 are poor due to a small number of samples being available for analysis because of a temporary lapse in funding. The event between November 12-17 was sampled despite funding uncertainty because it was the first big event after the dam breach. Loads during this period are of higher quality.
