LOCATION - Lat 41°31'20.29", long 88°11'34.33" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.10, T.35 N., R.9 E., Will County, IL, Hydrologic Unit 07120004, on left bank 400 ft upstream from bridge on U.S. Highway 52 at Shorewood, 3.8 mi downstream from Lily Cache Creek and at mile 10.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 324 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1035: 1944. WSP 1055: 1942(M). WDR IL-75-1: Drainage area.
Revisions: Gage datum was updated to 554.73 ft NAVD88 on Aug. 12, 2021, as determined by a GNSS Level II survey using GEOID18.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers satellite telemeter, and masonry dam. Datum of gage is 554.73 ft above NAVD of 1988. April 11, 1941, to August 12, 2021, at same site but datum 10 ft higher. Prior to Apr. 11, 1941, nonrecording gage at same site but datum 10 ft higher.
REMARKS - Effluent from sewage-treatment plant upstream averages about 50.0 ft³/s during the year. Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS IL Water Science Center.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD -
SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 17,300 ft³/s, July 18, 1996, gage height, 14.03 ft, datum then in use (24.03 ft. current datum), from floodmark; minimum, 0.20 ft³/s, Nov. 17, 1955, result of freezeup.
