DRAINAGE AREA - 5,189 mi². previously published as about 5,220 mi².

Since Carlyle lake dam: Maximum discharge, 55,300 ft³/s Jan. 1, 2016, gage height, 95.17 ft; maximum gage height, 95.63 ft, Jan. 1, 2016, discharge, 49,400 ft³/s; minimum, -979 ft³/s, July 8, 2012, caused by regulation of navigation dam downstream at Roots, IL.
WATER-TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 32.6 oC, July 22, 2017; minimum, 0.0 oC, several days in most years.
