LOCATION - Lat 38°19'26", long 89°58'14" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.27, T.2 S., R.8 W., St. Clair County, IL, Hydrologic Unit 07140204, on left bank at downstream side of bridge on State Highway 156, 2 mi northeast of Hecker, 5 mi west of New Athens, and at mile 17.3.
DRAINAGE AREA - 129 mi².

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers satellite telemeter, and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 374.65 ft above NAVD of 1988. June 28, 1976, to Nov. 9, 1978, nonrecording gage at same site and datum.
REMARKS - Three sewage treatment plants discharge effluent 13-16 mi upstream. Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS IL Water Science Center.
