06296003 ROSEBUD CREEK AT MOUTH, NEAR ROSEBUD, MT
LOCATION - Lat 46°15'52.67", long 106°28'30.83" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 NW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.21, T.6 N., R.42 E., Rosebud County, MT, Hydrologic Unit 10100003, The gage was moved during the 2015 Water Year to Lat 46'16'8.051", long 106'28'39.079" referenced to North American Datum of 1983. On left bank of creek, downstream of highway bridge. The gage was only run through the end of the water year at the new location. The new location had a large backwater influence from the Yellowstone River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,307 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1974 to September 2006, April 2015 to September 2015, discontinued.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 2,480 ft, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. U.S. Geological Survey satellite telemeter is located at the station.
REMARKS - 04-01-2016 to 09-30-2016: records poor. Diversions for irrigation of about 2,000 acres occur upstream from station.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Water years 1975-86, 1988-93, May 1999 to June 2003, May 2004 to current year.
REMARKS - GAGE--None. Elevation at the site is 2,480 ft referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. The water-quality sample collected at this site was made in conjunction with aquatic ecology samples collected for an interagency task group studying the effects of coal-bed natural gas development.
