LOCATION - Lat 47°17'07", long 101°37'18" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.18, T.144 N., R.86 W., Mercer County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 10130201, on left bank at downstream side of highway bridge, 0.5 mi south of Hazen, and 3 mi upstream from Antelope Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 2,240 mi². approximately.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1146: 1943. WSP 1279: 1930-31, 1932-33(M). WSP 1917: Drainage area.
PERIOD OF RECORD - DAILY DISCHARGE--October to November 1928, June 1929 to September 1933, September 1937 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1309.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--October 1999 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1713.6 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29) datum was converted to NAVD88 datum using the National Geodetic Surveys VDATUM transformation tool in November, 2017. Prior to October 1, 2017, datum was published as 1,712.35 ft above the NGVD29. Prior to September 25, 1947, non-recording gages at same site and datum.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for estimated discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - According to local residents, the floods of 1943 and 1950 were not exceeded during the period 1884 to 1942.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow, 35,300 ft³/s, June 24, 1966, peak stage, 27.01 ft; maximum peak stage, 27.79 ft, March 24, 2009, from floodmark, backwater from ice.

PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SUSPENDED-SEDIMENT CONCENTRATION AND DISCHARGE--March 1946 to June 1969. Daily suspended-sediment discharge for October 1948 to June 1969 furnished by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
