LOCATION - Lat 46°32'43", long 101°38'42" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in sec.05, T.135 N., R.87 W., Grant County, ND, Hydrologic Unit 10130203, on right bank about 90 ft upstream from county road bridge, 3 mi upstream from mouth and 9 mi northwest of Carson.
DRAINAGE AREA - 221 mi². approximately.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DAILY DISCHARGE--June 1948 to September 1975, 1976 (annual maximum only), February 1999 to current year (seasonal records only).

PERIOD OF RECORD.--DAILY GAGE HEIGHT--February 2001 to current year (seasonal records only).

 Datum of the gage is 1,961.38 feet above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) and 1,960 feet above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29).

REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for estimated discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - The flood of March 25, 1943, reached a stage of 17.1 ft (site and datum then in use) and was the highest known flood prior to 1950.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow, 11,100 ft³/s, April 16, 1950, peak stage, 17.95 ft from floodmark, site and datum then in use. From rating curve extended above 1,000 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow. Maximum peak stage, 19.10 ft, May 9, 1970, site and datum then in use.
