LOCATION - Lat 43°40'20.7", long 102°53'30" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.26, T.4 S., R.10 E., Custer County, SD, Hydrologic Unit 10120109, on right stream bank, 0.8 mi northeast of Redshirt, SD, and approximately 22 mi southeast of Hermosa, SD on State Highway 40.
DRAINAGE AREA - 10,259 mi² of which 5 mi² probably is noncontributing.
REVISIONS HISTORY - Revisions: Discharge measurement (discharge) of Mar. 13, 2020 and peak flow of Mar. 16, 2020 were revised on July 15, 2021. WDR SD-10-1: Drainage area.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 2,653.21 ft above NAVD of 1988.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except for Apr. 5-15, May 7-25, May 28 to Jun. 3, Jun. 19, 22, 25, Jul. 8, 26, 29, Aug. 18- 23, Sept. 12, 16, Oct. 1 to Dec. 4, 2016, Mar. 2 to Sept. 30, 2017, April 21-30, June 10-12, 14-15, Aug 18, 22,25-29, Sept, 1-3, 5, 8, 10, 12-14, 17-21, 2018, and Oct. 1 2018 to June 1, 2020, which are fair and Oct. 1-23, Oct. 30 to Nov. 23, Dec. 5-11, 2020, Mar. 5-8, 2021 and estimated discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated by Angostura Dam, conservation capacity, 82,400 acre-ft, 45 mi upstream since October 1949. Satellite data-collection platform at station.
