LOCATION - Lat 43°45'09", long 101°31'28" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.30, T.3 S., R.22 E., Jackson County, SD, Hydrologic Unit 10140202, on right abutment of State Highway 73 bridge, 5.2 mi upstream from Pass Creek, 5.3 mi downstream from Cottonwood Creek, and 5.8 mi south of Kadoka.
DRAINAGE AREA - 4,960 mi² of which 7 mi² probably is noncontributing.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Jun. 4, 1942, reached a stage of 16.24 ft, from floodmarks (discharge, about 32,000 ft³/s, from rating curve extended above 16,000 ft³/s). Floods of Mar. 8, 1905, and in spring of 1927 were 1 or 2 ft higher than flood of Jun. 4, 1942, from information by local residents.
