LOCATION - Lat 45°00'22", long 97°09'53" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.16, T.118 N., R.52 W., Codington County, SD, Hydrologic Unit 10170202, on left bank at downstream side of county highway bridge, 4.9 mi downstream from Mahoney Creek, 6.5 mi upstream from inlet-outlet to Lake Kampeska, and 7.5 mi northwest of Watertown.
DRAINAGE AREA - 525 mi² of which 295 mi² probably is noncontributing. documented runoff occurred during 1994-2002 water years for 213 mi² of the usually noncontributing area.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR SD-78-1: 1973-74(M), 1976-77(M). WDR SD-10-1: Drainage area.
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1972 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder.  Datum of gage is 1,726.66 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to conversion to NAVD88 datum of gage was published as 1,725.81 ft above NGVD29.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except those for June 13 - 18, 2017, Sept. 23 - 30, 2017, July 5, 2019 to Aug. 1, 2019, and Apr. 12, 2021 to Oct. 5, 2021, which are fair and those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Satellite data-collection platform at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Minimum daily discharge, 0.00 ft³/s, Feb. 1, 1974, no flow for many days in some years.
