LOCATION - Lat 44°10'49", long 96°44'57" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.08, T.108 N., R.49 W., Moody County, SD, Hydrologic Unit 10170203, on right bank 3 ft downstream from county bridge, 2.2 mi downstream from Medary Creek, and 9.5 mi southeast of Brookings.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,338 mi² of which 869 mi² probably is noncontributing. documented runoff occurred during Water Years 1994-2002 for 213 mi² of the usually noncontributing area.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR SD-10-1: Drainage area.

Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage.  Datum of gage is 1,552.80 feet above the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) and 1,551.91 feet above the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD29).

Prior to May 30, 1959, nonrecording gage at present site and datum of 1,551.91 feet above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29). 

REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except those from Apr. 7, 2023 to May 24, 2023 which are fair and for estimated discharges, which are poor. Satellite data-collection platform at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Minimum daily discharge, 0.00 ft³/s, Jan. 18, 1956, no flow at times in 1956, 1976, 1977, and 1982.
