LOCATION - Lat 43°36'59", long 96°33'54" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.26, T.102 N., R.48 W., Minnehaha County, SD, Hydrologic Unit 10170203, on left bank 6 ft downstream from county bridge, 0.3 mi east of Corson, and 3.4 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 482 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR SD-10-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1965 to September 1997 and October 2001 to current year. February 1951 to September 1965 gage heights and discharge measurements only in files of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. October 1989 to September 1997 operated as crest-stage partial-record gage.
GAGE -

Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage.  Datum of gage is 1,305.09 feet above the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) and 1,304.22 feet above the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29). 

Previous Datums are as follows:

February 1951 to Aug. 15, 1964, nonrecording gage at datum 1,304.37 feet higher.

Aug. 15, 1964, to Sept. 3, 1970, nonrecording gage at present site at datum 1,304.22 feet above the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29).

REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except those for June 15, 2014 to July 16, 2014, and Aug. 19, 2022 to Oct. 4, 2022, which are fair, and those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Satellite data-collection platform at station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of June 17, 1957, reached a stage of 15.41 ft, discharge, 19,300 ft³/s.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 18,900 ft³/s, May 8, 1993, gage height, 17.58 ft, from floodmark; minimum daily discharge, 0.00 ft³/s, July 20, 1966, no flow at times in some years.
