LOCATION - Lat 43°28'11.7", long 95°07'27.6" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 SE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.20, T.100 N., R.36 W., Dickinson County, IA, Hydrologic Unit 10230003, 2.3 mi upstream from lake outlet, and 2.3 mi northwest of Orleans.
DRAINAGE AREA - 75.6 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Revisions: Gage datum was updated to 1,387.28 ft NAVD88 on July 27, 2023, as determined by a GNSS Level II survey using GEOID18.
 
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -

Stage-only records from May 1933 to September 1975 (fragmentary), April 1990 to current year. Prior to October 1949, published as "at Orleans".

Discharge: May 2, 2019, to June 1, 2019.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,387.28 ft. above NAVD of 1988. Prior to July 6, 1950, non-recording gage or water-stage recorder at various sites near outlet, all at same datum.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS IA Water Science Center. Lake formed by concrete dam with ungated spillway at elevation 1,401.4 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Dam constructed in 1969. A previous outlet works had been constructed in 1944. Lake is used for conservation and recreation.
